Fixture

Aberdare travelled over the mountain to Merthyr on this very cold and foggy Sunday.  Aberdare were well represented and had 19 outstanding young players ready to do battle against the Iron Men.

Merthyr started the game strongly making excellent use of the very wide pitch.  They had plenty of pace outside and stretched the Aberdare defenders to score an early try.

The young snakes dug deep and got better as the game progressed.  They began running hard and offloading like professionals in the tackle.  As a result they were rewarded with some excellent team effort tries.

Aberdare dominated the later part of the game and looked like a quality team, many players offloading well and putting others into space.  Aberdare benefitted significantly from having strength in numbers and were disappointed when the game was ended early as the young snakes could sense a victory was coming their way.

 However, the end result of 5 tries each was a fair reflection of the game as a whole and both teams should be congratulated for the spirit that the game was played in and the quality of skills on show.

All of the coaches at Aberdare Under 10’s would like to wish our mini snakes and their fantastic parents a very happy Christmas and look forward to getting back to rugby in the new year.
