2017 starts with a great game of rugby at Glynneath for Under 10’s

Aberdare travelled down to Glynneath expecting a hard game from a well established side.  Glynneath did not disappoint and started the game very strongly looking extremely well organised.  However, it was the young snakes who took the first score after some great support play and effective off loading.

Glynneath were very strong in the second and third period of the game scoring a handful of tries however the young snakes dug deep and proved that they have what it takes to pull together and defend the line when the going gets tough.

The conditions were extremely heavy and for the majority of the game the players looked like they were handling an Easter egg instead of a rugby ball.  With the conditions being so muddy both sides had to play with grit and determination and should be extremely pleased with the amount of running rugby that was on show and the quality of the contest.

The game was played at ferocious pace throughout and the ball in play time was unbelievable for an under 10’s game, the referee deserves a lot of credit for this as the game was allowed to flow in a very fair and even manner.  The young snakes finished the last period of the game on top and this proves that their strength in depth as a squad, fitness and attitude is going to set them up for great things in the future.

Massive congratulations to all the young snakes today for their part in what was a great game of rugby and we look forward to welcoming Glynneath to the Ynys later on in the season.
