The game had its fair share of ups and downs, making for an exciting spectacle for the fans. The first 25 minutes of the match saw Abercwmboi coming out strong, displaying an unexpected willingness to run the ball from all over the field, despite their known strengths in the forward pack. Aberdare found themselves conceding a couple of penalties, which Abercwmboi capitalised on by opting to take the points, taking an early 0-3 lead. A pivotal moment occurred when a wayward pass from Aberdare resulted in Abercwmboi breaking down the field.

A tackle off the ball by Owen Young led to a penalty try for Abercwmboi, extending their lead to 0-10.

However, Aberdare showed their resilience and determination, clawing their way back into the game. Ben Miller played a crucial role for Aberdare, intercepting the ball and making an impressive run of three-quarters of the pitch to score in the corner, narrowing the score to 5-10.
