Aberdare's 1st team showcased resilience and determination against Rhydyfelin, aiming to redeem themselves after a disappointing performance the previous week.

From the kick-off, the young snakes demonstrated precision, seamlessly transitioning the ball between backs and forwards. Aberdare's pressure yielded a penalty, expertly converted by Garyn Payne, putting them 3-0 ahead.

Continuing their assault, Aberdare strategically kicked to the corner, gaining a penalty advantage. Scrum half Rhys Price's visionary cross-field kick found Daf Thomas, who scored, and Payne's conversion extended the lead to 10-0.

Rhydyfelin responded, applying pressure and securing a penalty to narrow the gap to 3-10. Seizing control, Rhydyfelin exploited Aberdare's lapse in defence, levelling the game at 10-10 with a try and conversion.

Undeterred, Aberdare finished the first half strongly. A well-executed move from a line-out created space for the backs, with Payne's precise pass to Adam Parry allowing the second row to break through. Thomas Roberts provided crucial support, and the offload found the club captain, extending the lead to 10-17 at halftime.

The second half began with Rhydyfelin scoring early, narrowing the gap to 15-17.

Payne's penalty extended Aberdare's lead to 15-20, easing the pressure.

However, Aberdare allowed Rhydyfelin to gain confidence, leading to sustained periods of dominance. Rhydyfelin's pressure paid off with another try, levelling the score at 20-20 and setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.

With Rhydyfelin in control, they opted for a corner line-out instead of an easy penalty. Second-row Kieron Parry's steal led to a series of penalties. Replacement scrum half Kian Stephens's quick tap, and strategic plays, earned Aberdare ground. Rhydyfelin conceded another penalty, allowing Payne to kick to touch.

In the final play, coordinated moves and deft hands among the forwards enabled Hooker Josh Bowditch to break through and score in the corner, securing a thrilling 20-25 victory for Aberdare.

With the focus now on St Josephs at home on December 9th, Aberdare seeks revenge for their earlier season defeat, maintaining their determination and positive momentum in the league.
