In a rearranged league fixture, Aberdare faced Ynysybwl in a rugby match.
Due to unfavourable weather conditions during the week, the Coaches and Committee Members put in a lot of effort to ensure that the field was suitable for play.
Aberdare was eager to maintain their winning streak after two previous victories.
Aberdare had a strong start, with the intention of moving the ball around and challenging Ynysybwl's defensive line. Despite the wind working against Ynysybwl, their fullback kicked the ball into the air. However, the strong winds caused the ball to bounce backward, and Aberdare's fullback, Matthew Davies, seized the opportunity to score a try, making the score 5-0 in favour of the home team.
Good teamwork between the backs and forwards put Aberdare in a favourable field position. Ynysybwl's lack of discipline led to a penalty, which Aberdare's centre, Garyn Payne, successfully converted, increasing the lead to 8-0.
Aberdare continued to apply pressure to Ynysybwl's defence, but they had difficulty with their final passes, missing out on potential tries.
However, the forwards' strong lineout mauls created opportunities for the backs. Thomas Hopkins found a gap in the defence and scored a try, with Garyn Payne converting it to make the score 15-0.
Before halftime, Garyn Payne added three more points with another successful penalty kick, making it 18-0.
In the second half, Ynysybwl started stronger and managed to score a try in the corner from a driving lineout, reducing the deficit to 18-5.
However, Aberdare remained confident and continued to play aggressively.
They made a few errors and couldn't score more tries, but they eventually scored their third try through club captain Thomas Roberts, bringing the final score to 23-5.
Aberdare showed promise in the game, but there are areas they need to improve upon, especially in securing bonus points by capitalising on missed opportunities.
Their next match will be against Barry away in the league.
