Aberdare 30 - 25 Abercynon

In a thrilling match on a chilly March afternoon, the Snakes hosted Cynon at the Ynys, showcasing a stellar performance on their home turf.

The young Snakes had diligently prepared over the past fortnight, eager to rectify their previous loss to the formidable Abercynon team earlier in the season.

The game kicked off with Aberdare asserting dominance early on, as Lock forward Jack Payne capitalised on a brilliant kick from Morgan Biggins, scoring within three minutes to put the home team ahead 5-0.

However, Abercynon swiftly responded with a penalty, narrowing the gap to 5-3.

Undeterred, Aberdare continued to press forward, with Captain Thomas Roberts orchestrating a remarkable play that led to Morgan Biggins crossing the line, extending the lead to 10-3.

Abercynon clawed back with another penalty, making it 10-6.

A moment of sheer unpredictability occurred at the 28th minute mark when Owen Young capitalised on a chaotic series of events to score a baffling try, extending the lead to 15-6.

Garyn Payne added to the Snakes' tally with a penalty, pushing the score to 18-6.

Just before halftime, Thomas Hopkins showcased his skill with a classic show-and-go maneuver, securing a bonus-point try, further widening the gap to 25-6 at halftime.

The second half witnessed Aberdare maintaining pressure but struggling to breach the Cynon defense.

Despite several close attempts, Abercynon managed to score first after the break, closing the gap to 25-13.

Aberdare eventually broke through in the second half with Jamie Price crossing the line after a successful driving lineout, taking the score to 30-13.

However, Abercynon rallied, capitalising on penalties to score twice, securing a losing bonus point with the final score Aberdare 30 - 25 Abercynon.

With their eyes set on the next challenge, the Snakes prepare to face Rhydyfelin at home on March 9th, continuing their journey in the league with determination and resilience
