Snakes' Defence Vital in Securing Victory

A chilly Saturday afternoon at The Ynys saw the Aberdare Snakes hosting a formidable Rhydyfelin side.

Anticipating a tough battle, the young snakes braced themselves for a challenging game.

The first half proved to be a struggle for Aberdare. Nothing seemed to go their way as handling errors and ill discipline led to two yellow cards for Jamie Price and Daniel Lewis. Despite relentless pressure from Rhydyfelin, Aberdare's defence held firm, showcasing resilience and strength in the scrums.

Despite the onslaught, the scoreboard remained at 0-0 thanks to Aberdare's unwavering defensive efforts.

Halftime provided a much-needed opportunity for Aberdare to regroup.

The second half saw a turnaround as the snakes displayed significant improvement.

Thomas Roberts orchestrated a breakthrough, setting up Morgan Biggins for the opening try, converted by Garyn Payne, giving Aberdare a 7-0 lead.

Buoyed by their success, Aberdare continued to apply pressure. A penalty kick by Garyn Payne further extended their lead to 10-0.

Rhydyfelin fought back fiercely, but Aberdare's staunch defence denied them any chance of a comeback.

The final whistle blew with Aberdare emerging victorious with a 10-0 win. While recognising the need for improvement, the snakes took pride in their defensive prowess.

With eyes set on their next challenge against Mountain Ash, Aberdare aims to build on their strengths and address areas of improvement in the upcoming training sessions.

The local derby promises to be an electrifying encounter, and Aberdare is poised to rise to the occasion.
